Victoire, I was about to flush this comment to the trash can as yet another spam, but it’s a higher quality pitch than I usually see. And you took the effort to tailor it by pasting in my URL. And since “Bullseye Breach” is really an IT security education book disguised as an international fiction thriller, I’ll keep this dialog in the comment stream.

For anyone else reading this comment thread – the pitch from Victoire has problems. For Victoire – why the multiple names for your company? You say your company name is SwingSEO Solutions, but the text on your link says something else. And your link points to a third name, bondseo.com. What’s up with that?

But I was curious, so I followed your link. This paragraph on your website is a problem:

We own and operate many well-known internet websites. Our current portfolio consist of over 8500 websites internet wide, including 3 established search engines, 2 internet service providers, movie sites, social networking sites, online gaming sites, and a well known domain registrar which currently hosts over 5000 ad supported websites. We run ads on this network of websites to deliver your targeted traffic.

How many websites? Name a few. Which established search engines? The biggies, of course, are names like Google, Bing, Ask, and Yahoo and surely you’re not claiming you operate those, right? So which ones do you operate? If there’s only three, why not name them? Why three? Why not combine them into one and tell the world its name? You claim to operate two Internet Service Providers? Which ones? Where?

And you also operate a domain registrar? Which one? Why not name it?

You claim you operate this network of 8500 websites and you’ll run ads on all these sites delivering targeted traffic to my site. Wonderful – which sites? How can I evaluate your offer with no way to see which popular sites are yours? And if I do a whois lookup on those sites, what will I find for domain registrar? And why would those sites agree to carry ads promoting my site? How are they compensated for these ads?

When I do a whois lookup on bondseo.com, the domain name your link really points to, I see it’s registered in China.

Is that why you buried the real name of your website under layers of other names?

But wait – there’s more! Your comment came from IP Address 104.168.45.42. When I do a whois lookup on that IP Address, I see it belongs to an organization named Proxy-R-US.com. Why hide behind a proxy to post your comment?

I will leave this comment thread here and look forward to your reply.

    2. Hi Greg — I saw your comment on the Popehat post about Secure Channels and I just watched the clip of your interview about the book. Just wanted to pop in and say Hi and share my website and contact in case you are interested.
      Cheers!
